means living in harmony with the natural systems of our planet...
while ensuring quality of life for all its life forms.

Rocky Planet, Living Systems...
The living systems of Earth are highly evolved and adapted to micro-climatic realities from the deepest ocean trench to the highest mountains..

We believe that to ensure measurable strides towards sustainability, we need to establish resource budgets for critical resources such as water, food and energy. Resource budgets are the amounts of available renewable natural resources that can be allocated to human use, after reserving the amounts necessary to support healthy ecosystems. These budgets are based on available resources in each bioregion.

Husbandry of bioregional resources—respecting all parts of natural systems—can safeguard and improve available budgets for Human Uses

Our goal is to create ways for designers and planners to use these resource budgets when they develop solutions for the built environment—to keep overall human consumption in balance with the planet’s capabilities.

Because technologies are changing at unprecedented rates, sustainable “best practices” are extremely difficult to identify. We believe it is critical to establish resource budget systems and feedback mechanisms in order to accurately measure and evaluate performance of our designs for buildings, urban infrastructure, and settlement patterns.

Place Making and Natural Justice...
A planet at war or filled with injustice is not a sustainable place. It is like a baseball team with injured players—not able to win or even to play reliably. Earthos principals have helped to invent and practice successful place-making for about forty years. The place-making process assists significantly in advancing global urban culture and the spread of social justice. We are committed to maintaining and renewing ethnic diversity, with full empowerment, for all people.
